To keep the country moving, we have evolved how our stores, garages and mobile experts operate. The health and well-being of our colleagues and customers is our top priority, so these are the steps we have taken to help keep everyone stay safe.

As an essential retailer our stores will remain open for you to shop our products.

To maintain social distancing, we will continue to limit the number of customers allowed in our store at any one time. For services we are operating a contactless "Drive in, Fit and repair" policy. Simply park up and request your service in the store.

We are still building bikes in-store and continue to offer a collection service that keeps everyone safe.

All customers (unless exempt in line with Government guidelines) are required to wear face coverings upon entering any of our stores

We have changed the way we offer fitting services inside the customers’ vehicle.

We have introduced new safety measures and equipment to protect our customers and colleagues while we carry out these services. Our new interior vehicle sanitiser will be used to sanitise the car before a colleague carries out your service, helping keep you and your family safe.

Due to safety reasons, we are currently only able to carry out interior car fitting on vehicles that have an Air Re-circulation System. This includes air conditioning systems, heaters or air vents. If you are unsure whether your vehicle meets this criteria, please speak to one of our experts.

Returns

To ensure we are keeping our customers and colleagues safe we are changing the way our stores operate and our exchange policy.

Our current exchange and returns policy is 90 days. This will be available on products bought in-store and online on or after 24th February 2020. While receipts will not show the new extended date, our colleagues will ensure that all items bought within this time frame can be returned or exchanged.

The easiest way to return items is to take them to a store where a colleague will be able to process a refund for you.

  • The refund will be processed to your original payment method only, so please ensure you have your payment card with you.
  • We are going cashless to help protect our colleagues and customers. During this time, we will be able to refund cash purchases onto a Halfords Gift Card.
  • Customers will no longer need to fill in any paperwork to obtain refunds.
  • If you paid by Paypal it will be refunded back to your Paypal account, and Klarna Finance against your finance agreement.

As an essential retailer our garages will remain open to help you keep your vehicle safely on the road.

To maintain social distancing we are only allowing one customer into our reception at any one time, to keep both our customers and colleagues safe. We also politely request that you do not remain on site whilst work is carried out on your vehicle.

All customers (unless exempt in line with Government guidelines) are required to wear face coverings upon entering any of our garages.

At this time we are not able to accept cash payments in our garages. You will be able to pay using card, gift card or through Klarna our finance provider.

Our mobile expert service brings safe, contactless service to your home or work.

Our technicians will wear disposable gloves and protection for each job and all our vans are cleaned at the end of each shift, keeping everyone safe.

On the day of your appointment, ensure that your car is in an accessible location.

Place your keys in a safe place that our technician can access. If you book a tyre related service, please make sure your locking wheel is available for our technician to use.

The mobile technician will call you on the way to the fitting to confirm.

To keep our colleagues and customers safe, we will be ensuring that we maintain a 2 metre distance at all times.

Halfords are continuing to offer the majority of our services to help those who need to keep moving safely. :

Motoring Services:

Full 10 and 5 point car checks, bulb fitting, windscreen chip repair, wiper blade fitting, tech fitting, number plate fitting, roof boxes and bars fitting, battery fitting, battery check, oil check and top up, air con check or recharge, bike rack fitting, adblue top up, mirror glass replacement and paint chip repair,? motorcycle fits (headlamp, bulb and battery), child seat fitting demo and dog guard fitting.

Bike Services:

We continue to offer our Bronze, Silver, Gold bike services as well as individual bike services, including: Brake service (inc. cable), gear service, drivetrain service, hydraulic brake bleed, suspension service, slime service, hub service, inner tube replacement, tyre replacement, spoke, replacement, wheel true, cone adjust, chain fit, cassette fit, brake pad fit, brake lever fit, gear shifter fit, crank replacement and gear hanger replacement.

Halfords Autocentres:

All MOT, service, tyres, brakes and exterior work. We may in some cases need to prioritise emergency fleet work – our team will keep you up to date if this is likely to impact your booking.

Halfords Mobile Expert:

All services are now available with our no contact service to keep you extra safe.

Tyres on the Drive:

All services will resume with our no contact service to keep you extra safe. You can still get your tyres fitted, TPMS service and wheel clean.

  • 48 Hour Electric Bike Trial

Yes, we are still offering bike services. This includes: Brakes and gear adjust and alignment and drivetrain lubrication.

We are also offering:

Yes, as an essential retailer, Halfords, Halfords Autocentre and Halfords Mobile Expert are still running under government guidelines. These can be booked via the Halfords website or contacting your local store or garage.

The majority of our services are now available with the exception of our electric bike trials. If you are unable to book a slot for any other service that we offer, you can contact your local store or garage to arrange your booking.

We apologise for any inconvenience, a member of our team will be in touch with you to arrange a new date for your booking.

Simply contact your local store to arrange a booking for your product to be fitted and arrive at the store for your allocated slot. We have introduced new safety measures and equipment to protect our customers and colleagues. As an essential retailer and following government guidance, our stores, garages and mobile experts will remain open across the country in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

We will continue to operate in a way that is safe for both our customers and colleagues.

Our mobile fleet will continue to serve customers on their drives and, of course, we’re open 24/7 online at www.usshadley.com where you can order for delivery straight to you.

We are taking a number of steps to protect our customers and colleagues in our shops and garages, including:

  • We’ve changed the way our stores operate. To keep our colleagues and customers safe, we will be offering a “Drive in, fit and repair” proposition for essential motoring and cycling services alongside a “Fast track click & collect”.
  • We are offering customers e-receipts. (paper receipts are available if the customer would prefer this)
  • We won’t ask customers to sign paperwork.
  • We’ll be enforcing a strict two metre rule
  • We’ll ensure that our colleagues have the cleaning materials (e.g. hand sanitiser) to support hygiene guidelines.
  • We have a hand sanitisation station at the front of our stores that is free to use.
  • All customers and colleagues (unless exempt in line with government guidelines) will be required to wear face coverings.

We will only open stores and garages, and operate our mobile services, where we are able to implement these measures fully.

We will continue to follow the government advice and review how we are serving customers across all our channels to ensure that we are doing what is right for customers and colleagues. At the moment the length of these changes is unknown – the halfords.com website will show latest opening hours for all shops and garages.

We will continue to remain open and processing all orders. Due to increased demand, we may experience some delays with our courier service.

There are a number of ways you will be able to use our services or buy our products:

  1. You can order online on halfords.com 24/7 and have your order delivered to you
  2. You can order online on halfords.com 24/7 and arrange for your order to be delivered to a local store
  3. You can visit a local store and ask the colleague to direct you to the product you are looking for.

Services:

  1. You can book a service online on halfords.com 24/7 at your local garage or shop and then visit there to have the service completed
  2. Some services are offered on demand (e.g. bulb fitting) – for these services you can visit a store and the colleague will complete the service at your car for you
  3. Some services are offered via our mobile servicing services

MOTs are being offered at all open Halfords Autocentres. To find your nearest garage and book your MOT click here.

Government legislation has been passed so that any cars requiring an MOT between 30th March and 31st July will have a 6 month exemption from needing their MOT completed. However, vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition and drivers can be prosecuted if driving unsafe vehicles. If your MOT is due before March 30th 2020 or from 1st August 2020 then you will need to get your MOT completed before it expires.

To ensure the safety of our customers and store colleagues unfortunately we cannot currently offer bike trials or bike fittings in store. A store colleague will still be able to talk you through the bikes and answer any questions you have but you will not be able to ride. Customers are also not currently able to try on helmets or clothing and changing rooms are closed until further notice. You will be able to use a measuring tape in store to choose the right size helmet for you.

Trade Card discounts will be applied online with your purchases. Other discounts (e.g. British cycling) cannot be processed online – if you wish to purchase products using these discounts you will need to order online and collect in store where the colleague will be able to apply your discount on provision of a membership card showing access to a valid discount.
